Week of February 8, 2010 through February 12, 2010

This week, all second grade students will be taking the last set of SJUSD Language Arts and Math Benchmark tests for the year. These tests let us know where your children  are in relation to expected learning outcomes for their grade level, and will help us target instruction for the upcoming California Standards Tests. Please make sure your child eats and sleeps well this week!

February is African American History month. Test your knowledge of civil rights in American history with this quiz:

Families, we could still use hand sanitizer! If you would send some for your child to use, or send some for the class to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

I have also suggested that you send your child to school with a few pencils and a covered pencil sharpener of their own. There is a great deal of competition for the pencils I provide, and unfortunately, some students will take several to keep in their desks, leaving a few shorties for the rest of the class! If I provided infinite pencils, it would still be a problem... Pencils, erasers, and sharpeners kept in pencil boxes when not in use should be just fine. Your child will always have one when they need one, and will learn to be responsible for their own supplies.
